Even skeptical scholars generally grant several facts: Jesus died by crucifixion, His tomb was found empty, multiple people and groups reported experiences they believed were appearances of the risen Jesus, and the disciples were transformed from fearful to bold despite having nothing to gain and much to lose.

Of the available explanations, the resurrection itself accounts for this full set of facts more coherently than hallucination, theft, or legend theories.
